Determining Vintage Condition
While definitions may vary somewhat between sellers, the following can be used as a general guideline. When in doubt, ask the seller!
Mint Condition: As close to "new" as possible for its age. No problems.
Excellent Condition :Normal wear expected for age. Any problems are not easily visible.
Gently Used: Normal wear expected for age. Shows very minimal wear
Used: A purse that was used everyday. Not abused.... but used, shows more noticeable wear.
If you are looking at the actual item (rather than a picture), determine the following:
- Is the stitching intact?
- Are there areas of discoloration or stains
- Do zippers work?
- Is the lining intact?
- Are the handles secure?
- Does the item show a lot of wear and tear?
- Are there areas of repair that don't quite match?
If you are looking at items that are online, the condition is more difficult to determine. Make sure that there are pictures from various angles. Ideally, there will also be pictures of any noticeable flaws. If there aren't sufficient pictures, email the seller and ask for them.
